Is Quilling Just Coiling Paper?

The works of art can be produced in a two dimensional manner (which is easiest for beginners) or, for more complicated designs, in 3D. The coils of paper will have been moulded into different shapes and have been made from thin strips of paper with the basic shapes being tight or loose coils and other shapes such as triangles, squares, circles or half circles. For 3D designs the coils are typically tightly packed before being teased out and extended to create custom shapes and structures.
