Bad Hips in a Bird Dog
January 7th, 2009 . by adminThe first time I purchased bird dogs, I only spent time researching on the type of dog to purchase. In reading, I found tips on items to look for when picking out a puppy. However, I learned that it is important to have the breeder guarantee the parents’ hips the hard way. Fortunately for me, my first two bird dogs were splendid. Yet, my hunting friend, similarly ignorant, was not as lucky. After a considerable amount of money and two years of training his two bird dog puppies, both dogs developed hip dysplasia and were no longer useful for hunting. What a mistake! Only buy from a breeder that guarantees its dogs’ hips.
