Information about Engineered Wood Floor
November 28th, 2008 . by adminFlooring made with engineered wood is known as engineered wood floor. This type of wood is real wood but comprises 3 to 10 thin wood layers instead of a single solid piece. The layers are called plies and they are gathered and glued in the fashion of a cross-ply construction. The topmost layer of wood can be 1/16″ to 1/6″ thick. The overall thickness of the board may range from 1/4″ to 3/4″. Engineered wood is more stable and durable than solid wood because of the multi-ply structure. It is also less prone to expanding and shrinking with the differences in temperatures as well as moisture.
