Benefits Of Music Education
May 14th, 2009 . by adminIs there a reason to have singing and musical instruments in schools? What are the benefits of music education? Here are two.
1. Better academic performance. For reasons that are not yet entirely understood, those who study music tend to do better at other subjects in school. It is theorized that the parts of the brain that are stimulated and developed by music help in other areas as well.
2. Discipline. Learning to play the piano or sing or to use any musical instrument takes a lot of self discipline. The self discipline that is developed is valuable in all areas of life. In fact, it has been shown to be a better predictor of success - even academic success - than intelligence.
