4 Types of Ringtones
June 30th, 2009 . by adminRecently, cell phone users are downloading ring tones of their favorite song, instrumental melody, or celebrity recording. There are four different types of ringtone formats: Monophonic, Polyphonic, Real, and Voice. Ringtones are available by subscribing to a monthly service fee from the provider or downloading for free on the Internet.
The most popular choices for downloading ringtones are Real and Voice. Real tones, such as Verizon music ringtones, are actual mp3 music clips from recording artists and voice ringtones are sound recordings from celebrities. Companies provide bigger storage capacity on their cell phones because Real ringtones require a lot of free space. In earlier years, cell phone users were only allowed to choose Monophonic ringtones or Polyphonic ringtones. Monophonic ringtones produce only one sound, but this format is obsolete. Polyphonic ringtones produce a variety of musical instruments and cell phone users still use this format.
